A central part of this comprehensive recruitment and support program for special population students is the "Believe it or Not I Care Program" which works to integrate student services and vocational-technical education. Southwestern College has developed a guide for career success which is distributed via mail. Counselors visit classrooms to inform students of support services available on campus. The program also provides workshops on timely topics including nontraditional occupation roundtables for women and men that bring together special populations students with faculty and employers to discuss learning, teaching and hiring of students in fields nontraditional to their gender.
