Small Manufacturers’ Institute (SMI) Robotics Academies

SMI works with a Community College campus to introduce high school students (9th through 12th grades) to electronic and manufacturing technology through the construction, testing, and operation of functional robots.  It is hoped that participating in the academy will encourage students to investigate careers in hi-tech fields.

Experienced industry instructors are provided by SMI.  Classes are held on eight Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. each week.  Students are provided lunches at no cost.  Students are expected to provide their own transportation.  There are no fees for high school students. Other students pay a $28.50 registration fee.  All course materials are provided by the Academy.  .  Students are required to attend all eight Saturday class sessions.  Colleges grant participants one Semester Unit Credit for Manufacturing Technology 1.
