Partners Launch Network Connectivity and Electronics Technician Programs |
|
Successful partnerships with private business and nonprofits have benefited students attending the College of San Mateo. Most recently, the SBC Foundation partnered with the College to offer a fast-track information technology program that provides training in building, installing and testing connectivity hardware. Students can receive their certificate as a Network Connectivity Technician in just nine months, preparing them for careers requiring skills in networking, fiber optics or wireless technology. In September 2003, the College was designated as a Federal Aviation Administration site authorized to provide Electronics Technician training – one of five such sites in the state. Students who enter the two-year program also work as paid interns before completing the three-phase training plan.
