Recruiting and Preparing Special Population and Nontraditional Students for Training in Advanced Transportation Technology |
|
City College of San Francisco developed a recruitment plan and training program for students interested in the transportation field - specifically train conductor and railroad operations. The class enrollments were 50% female, and the majority of students were economically disadvantaged. Students were helped in developing an educational plan. Students also received tutoring and attended workshops on test taking, study skills and job interviewing. The college also developed a brochure in cooperation with the municipal transit unions that alerted transit employees to career advancement courses at the college.
