Miramar Participates in 21st Century Learning Outcomes Project

San Diego Miramar College is one of sixteen community and technical colleges nationwide participating in the League for Innovation’s 21st Century Learning Outcomes Project

The project’s goal is to increase the capacity of community colleges by defining and documenting student achievement of learning outcomes that are necessary for success in the workplace, in transfer education, and in today’s society.

The three-year project, which ended June 2003, assembled a team of faculty, staff, administrators, and Academic Senate representatives to:

Establish core competencies in the areas of Communication, Critical Thinking Skills and Problem Solving, Global Awareness, Information Management, and Personal and Professional

Create curriculum components in class syllabi for pilot courses in Math, Speech, Personal Growth and Legal Assistant

Develop a Web site that includes project outcomes and information

Disseminate information via workshops and conferences
