Professor Honored as Teacher of the Year by CAPED |

Professor Thomas “Lon” Underwood at San Diego Mesa College was selected as the 2002 Teacher of the Year by the California Association for Post-secondary Education and Disability (CAPED), citing his achievements in two distinct areas. First, Professor Underwood was recognized as an outstanding teacher who has made extraordinary efforts to meet the needs of the disabled learner in the classroom through the use of innovative instructional techniques and accommodations; and secondly as a pioneer in establishing teacher recruitment and development programs in California Community Colleges throughout the state.
