New Visions program helps welfare recipients gain new occupational skills

Riverside College has developed a pilot program called New Visions to provide welfare recipients with increased levels of skills and knowledge in occupational areas, and to secure higher paying jobs that lead to financial independence.

Students receive training in basic skills, complete a guidance course, and enroll in an occupational mini-program.

Students also receive assistance with childcare, financial aid, job placement, career advisement, book loans, bus passes, and parking permits.
