Mt. SAC Facilities / Metropolitan Water District Welding Partnership |

Mount San Antonio College (Mt. SAC) facilities have been upgraded to include special power and exhaust systems to support smart classrooms and laboratories for welding, air conditioning and refrigeration; faculty and staff offices, meeting and conference rooms; staff preparation areas; and spaces designed to promote occupational training programs. For example, Mt. SAC has developed and implemented a fee based education welding certification component for the Metropolitan Water District (MWD) of Southern California’s Apprenticeship Program. The program was initiated in the Fall of 2005 at Mt. SAC’s facilities as a day program meeting three times each month. Part time faculty, paid an hourly wage, teaches the class. Course fees remaining after paying the part time faculty are used to augment the department’s budget. The next MWD group will start up in the Fall of 2007.
