Modesto Jr. College Construction Program Opens

 

The program is a collaborative effort between the City of Modesto, Habitat for Humanity, Modesto Junior College, Stanislaus County and the Community Services Agency. Graduates will receive a certificate of completion from Modesto Junior College as well as certificates from the City of Modesto, Stanislaus County and Stanislaus County Community Services Agency.

Modesto Junior College is beginning recruitment for the Construction Technology Program that will begin at the end of March, 2005. The Construction Technology Program is an accelerated 20 week workforce development program that focuses on helping students prepare for a career in the construction industry.

Upon successful completion of the program, students are equipped with the basic skills and tools needed to go directly to work. In addition to training, students will also receive job placement services and employability training that include workplace skills, employee responsibility, resume building, communication and interviewing.

The first phase of the next Construction Training program will start March 28 in preparation for the 2005 summer session which will begin May 9 and end August 18, 2005. Training is comprised of seven classes for a total of 19 credited units and students will meet daily over the course of 20 weeks.
