In 1997, three Mission College faculty members, Anna Szabados, Christy Coobatis,and Manny Magallon wrote and secured a five year $1.2 million CaliforniaState ED>Net Multimedia Grant establishing the South Bay Regional New Media Center at Mission College in Santa Clara, California.

Education and technology come together at the New Media Center in Silicon Valley to create an environment for the development of future new media professionals. The purpose of the New Media Center is to develop New Media curriculum that responds to the needs of industry, thereby ensuring a smooth transition between high school education, college education and industry.
