Mira Costa College Integrates Career Center into College Curriculum

Mira Costa College

Career Development integration into Core classes is a goal of the Mira Costa career center staff.  Activities currently include in-class assessments by invitation of the faculty.  Job search and resume workshops and other career information are disseminated upon request.

Some instructors are taking the initiative to do their own career integration.  For example, a professor who teaches a course entitled “Careers in Anthropology” sponsors career center activities that career center staff attends to promote the career center, as well as support the instruction.  Also, at least two faculty members send students to the center for research on careers and then quiz the students, as a part of the class curriculum.

Several clubs also introduce career development in activities.  For example, “Tutors – Tomorrow’s Teachers” conducts education workshops.  Career center staff attend the workshop, help market the event, and assist with resources.
