LACCD Builds Green & Develops Green CTE Programs |

The Los Angeles Community College District successfully passed $6 billion in bonds in 2002 to modernize its six campuses using sustainable building practices. The District's Sustainable Building Program is the largest 'green' public-sector construction programs in the nation. Along with this effort, new 'green' career and technical education programs are being developed or launched, and can be seen at www.laccd.edu/workforce_dev/documents/laccd-green-technology-programs-matrix.xls Additionally, on August 31, 2009, the Governor announced a $75 million Clean Energy Workforce Training Program that will train more than 20,000 workers for green jobs at LA Trade Tech. The program is funded through ARRA funds, the California Energy Commission, and other public and private agencies and institutions.
