The curriculum of the Long Beach City College Electrical Technology program contains the elements covered in the State of CA electrical certification exams. Students successfully completing the program will be prepared to take the exam.
Electrical Technology Program

The Department offers comprehensive general Electrical Certificate and Associate Degree Programs in addition to specific courses to allow experienced electricians to upgrade their skills in specific areas. Courses range from introductory classes to Programmable Logic Controllers. Offerings include DC and AC theory, wiring, code, single phase, three phase, DC motors, AC motors, generators, motor controls, general controls, PLCs and robotics. Most courses include both lecture and lab. The training time in the program is counted by the state as experience towards a state contractors license. Financial Aid and Tutoring are available at the college. |
Long Beach City College Electrical Program has been approved by the California Apprenticeship Council as "Approved School Number 101". The California Apprenticeship Council affirmed the January 1, 2006 deadline for certification for general electrician, residential electrician and fire life safety technician.
