Electro-mechanical Design Program at Las Positas |
|
The program focus is on computer-aided design and drafting (CADD) to prepare products for industry, scientific research, construction and development from sketches and instructions furnished by designers, engineers, and scientists. Design technicians should enjoy drawing and be able to visualize what they are drawing. They should have some artistic ability, be willing to work and learn, be neat and accurate in their work, and if they are in design work, it is essential that they be mechanically minded. Students who are entering the Las Positas College A.S. degree program in Design Technology should be proficient in algebra and will find two years of high school mechanical drawing helpful. Good English skills and some background in physical science are also helpful.
The LPC Design Technology program is an industry-advised program designed to prepare students for entry into the highly technical fields of electronic, mechanical and electro-mechanical design. Dr. Neal Ely
