Multiple Data Sources Used to Assess Employers-Meet-Students Event

College of the Desert holds an annual “Employers-Meet-Students” event to provide local employers and students industry-specific employment opportunities.  (See Employers-Meet-Students under the Career Development link).  Following each event, staff summarizes activities and impact by developing a report that includes the:

  • Number of students interviewed each year by occupational category

  • Employer survey comments of most important employee skills needed (based on SCANS), and of industry specific training needs.

The report is submitted to the VP of Counseling, the Counseling Dean and the College President who review the results.  The report has been an excellent marketing and communications tool, building support and enthusiasm for the event amongst administrators and staff.
