Introducing Women to the World of Engineering Technology through Computer Controlled Machines |
|
This project focuses on nontraditional special population students. Women 16 years of age and older attend 16 hours of instruction at Cabrillo College. The women are placed in pairs and each pair creates in hardware and software a moving LEGO machine with motors, lights, and sound. They also attend one field trip to a site producing programmable devices and attend a career panel of women working in engineering technology. The LEGO machines are demonstrated at a family-oriented culminating event.
